Head copy

Head copy means understanding Morse in your head — words and callsigns — without writing or typing every character. It is a later skill that sits on top of solid instant character recognition.

Don't skip the foundation

If letters still require conscious decoding, head copy will frustrate you. Finish Koch-style alphabet work first. Then practice words and callsigns at comfortable spacing.
