Farnsworth timing demo
E is · , I is · · , S is · · · . At slow character speeds people count dots. At real speed with wide gaps between letters, each letter becomes a sound shape — and the gaps keep them from melting together.
Wide = 7-unit inter-character gaps. Off = standard 3-unit gaps. Elements always at full char WPM.
What to listen for
- E: a single short “tick.”
- I: two ticks with a tiny gap — still one letter-sound.
- S: three ticks — longer shape than I.
