How to key Morse on MorseTime

Keying is not “draw dots on a chart.” You hold a key (or pad) for time; short holds are dits, long holds are dahs. Sidetone plays while the key is down so your ear and hand stay linked.

Controls

• Touch / mouse: press and hold the big key pad.
• Keyboard: Space or Enter — hold for dah, tap for dit.

Dit vs dah threshold

Classification uses a threshold roughly halfway between a 1-unit dit and 3-unit dah at your character WPM. Faster WPM means a shorter threshold. If everything becomes dahs, you may be holding too long — or WPM is set very high.

Phase honesty

Lessons force listen first. You cannot key during the transmission. After the audio ends, you press Start, then the timer and key pad activate. This mirrors on-air discipline: receive, then send.

Letter buffer

You build one letter at a time. A wrong element clears only the current letter's buffer and counts against accuracy — it does not erase the whole group.
